About the Role
As part of the core team at Smallworld, you will have a pivotal role in shaping our organization’s culture, product focus, and engineering standards. You’ll be part of a small software studio that collaborates with notable fitness and wellness brands like Nike and QALO. This is your chance to own projects end-to-end, create innovative digital product solutions, and help us scale while maintaining a razor-sharp focus on delivering value quickly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Full-stack development for web and/or mobile applications, working with a variety of coding languages.
Implement web or mobile interfaces using standard technologies like HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Collaborate closely with Product Management and Design teams to define feature specifications, leveraging frameworks such as React and React Native.
Build and scale backend services.
Establish expertise and ownership of a particular component, feature, or system with an end-to-end understanding.
Consistently deliver on projects of significant scope, contributing a high level of productivity and code quality.
Minimum Qualifications
Programming experience in at least one relevant programming language.
Demonstrated experience building large-scale applications or similarly complex systems.
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Elixir, Python, PHP, or JavaScript.
Experience as an owner of a particular component, feature, or system.
Proven track record completing projects that span a large scope while maintaining code quality.
Experience shipping reliable, high-quality products at scale.
History of setting technical direction for teams, driving consensus, and working across functions collaboratively.
Experience improving quality through code reviews, robust testing, thoughtful rollouts, monitoring, and proactive refactoring or optimizations.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to product ownership of software applications, whether as an open-sourced project or part of a startup.
Experience in programming languages such as Swift or Kotlin.
