Rethinking how trainers
track health progress
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we had an idea: what if we could create an app that combined health data into a single number — a baseline — that tracked daily progress? So, we built Baseline: a social+ fitness app that encourages daily activity for everybody.

Idea to MVP in 3 months

One of our main goals with Baseline was to integrate existing hardware like the Apple Watch, Fitbit, and Garmin GPS Watch. From there, we focused on 3 priorities: content, community, and challenge.
The Baseline app launched in June 2020. Initially, we thought the target market was everyday athletes looking for a social+ fitness platform. But after its release, we saw a bigger opportunity: gyms. We launched to our first two gyms in January 2021.
Not long after, the U.S. government recommended gyms close again. COVID-19 had returned. With that, we made the difficult decision to shelve Baseline.
We’re proud of innovating in a world without certainty, and we’re proud of taking action in a time of crisis.
